So It Begins...
Hi, welcome to this bookish adventure. I’m so glad you’ve taken the time to join me. I love shenanigans (I’m sure you do too). Thank you for coming along with me for the literary kind.
Introduction to My Bookish Adventure
Growing up, I never understood readers (not a great way to start a blog about reading). I didn’t understand the appeal. I grew up a television baby. If you put me in front of a screen (regardless of what was on), I would totally veg out. I got into the proverbial reading game late, like late late, like the party started and nine and I show up at one late.
From TV Baby to Avid Reader
I’ve always had an overactive imagination so I wrote; I wrote stories and poems and songs. I was told to be a good writer; I needed to read and so I gave it the old college try. For some reason my mind rebelled every time I held a physical book. I could not concentrate to save my life so I stopped trying.
How eBooks Changed My Life
Fast forward a bit and I discovered eBooks. They changed my life. ‘Oh screen, my old friend, you bring me joy in a new way.’ My imagination went crazy, allowing me to build worlds from the authors words, transporting me to new places from the comfort of my home. I’ve walked the streets of Barcelona and sailed off the coast of Greece. I’ve witnessed gun fights in the Superstition Mountains and sipped tea with the royal family at Buckingham palace.
Discovering Wattpad and Affordable Reading
I dove into books like a starved man at a buffet. I’ve read all sorts of books from biographies to self-help to romance (my favorite) to historical fiction. I have learned a lot in my short reading career and I thought I might share some of it with y’all. First lesson I learned is, reading is an expensive hobby, whether you’re into eBooks like me or you prefer paperback.
In order to quell my crazy hunger for good, satisfying reading, I had to find ways to satiate my appetite for books. One of those ways is Wattpad. I love this site. They offer writers and readers a place to meet and interact and learn and grow with each other. They have some amazing books and some that are just okay, so I decided to add a section in this blog called ‘Pick of the Week’ where I help you find the pocket-friendly gems in the collections they have. I know there are other places to get free reading but Wattpad is the one I use.
Book Reviews and Reader Interactions
I will also have a section for a book review. Now, I need to put this out there, I will not be breaking down prose or discourse or anything like that. I’ll just talk about what I liked about the book and what I think you might like about it. This section will be called ‘Book Says What?’.
The final section will be all about you. If you have questions or comments or shenanigans or book promotions or writing tips or anything you feel like sharing. I’ll put you ‘On Blast…’ in a good way.
