Book Blitz Month...
This is celebrated every January and aims to promote a love for reading and encourage people to pick up more books. It was originally created to help authors intensify their efforts in promoting their books and to foster a thriving reading culture. This month-long celebration of reading and writing calls people to come together to share their love of books, discover new authors, and support local bookstores. During Book Blitz Month, there are many events and activities happening all over.
Why Celebrate Book Blitz Month?
During this month, readers are encouraged to:
- **Read more**: Dive into new books and explore different genres.
- **Attend book signings**: Meet your favorite authors and get your books signed.
- **Support local bookstores**: Buy books from local or online stores.
- **Join book clubs**: Start or join book clubs to share the joy of reading with others.
It's a time to rediscover the joy of reading and support authors by engaging with their works.
My Personal Experience
When I was young, my school organized a reading contest. The entire school was given a list of books to read and a quiz about the characters, author names—things that you could only learn by actually reading the books. Now, I have said it before… I did not like reading when I was young, so it was not something I was going to do. But I wanted to win the prize (I had never won anything before). So, two days to the end of the competition, I took myself to the library and placed all the relevant reading in front of me and I got to work.
While I’d like to tell you I actually read all those books, I don’t want to lie to you. I skimmed and managed to get all the answers to the questions in under an hour, (and a researcher was born). All those who got the answers right had their names placed in a hat, and I won second place. Guess what the prize was… A book (you should have seen my face when I tore the wrapping off). I opened it one time and have no clue where it went (not my proudest moment).
Ways to Participate in Book Blitz Month
This is a great opportunity for people of all ages to get involved in the literary community. The goal is to increase book visibility and attract more readers through coordinated efforts across various platforms. Here are some ways to participate:
1. **Schedule Posts**: Bloggers and influencers post reviews, excerpts, or features about the books on their websites, social media, or book platforms.
2. **Giveaways**: Prizes, such as free copies of books, gift cards, or other themed items, are often offered to readers who participate.
3. **Social Media Campaigns**: Hashtags, contests, and scheduled posts on platforms like Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook help generate buzz and encourage sharing.
4. **Author Interviews/Guest Posts**: Authors may take part in interviews, write guest blog posts, or engage with readers through live chats or Q&A sessions.
5. **Exposure**: The events allow the books to reach a larger audience and gain attention from readers who may not have discovered it otherwise.

*The Green Ember* by S.D.Smith
Yes, this is classified as a children’s book, and yes, I love this story. I love adventure and I love fantasy, and this is the best of both worlds. Never in my wildest dream did I ever think I’d be rooting for bunnies, but this book rocked my imagination and elevated my senses. Ten out of five stars.
